This project consists of an approximate 100,000 square foot soft strip of levels 9 & 10 in Canary Wharf, together with an enabling builders work package of staircase removal and slab infills. Pristine London undertook the works directly for Barclays Bank Plc, working as the principal contractor.
Business continuity was an overriding factor for Barclays, as the trading floors directly below were operational 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, hence noise sensitivity on this project was paramount. Pristine London conducted a baseline noise meter test prior to the works commencing and a series of ongoing tests to ensure that our works did not affect the trading staff nearby.
The programme was also key to Barclays, which prompted us to propose working for 24 hours, 7 days a week for a period of 8 weeks for the initial strip out works. Our workforce consists of the following trades and peaked at 60 operatives:
- M&E Engineers to deal with all validations and isolations
- Logistics operatives to manage all waste away from and access into site
- Strip out operatives
- Structural engineer to design the steelworks for the slab infills
- Steel erectors
- Concrete operatives
- Diamond drillers
- Fire protection operatives
Pristine London’s management team was supplemented by a full-time technical services manager due to the intricate level of services removal on this project.
